Day 4 (Sun 24 January 2021): Whanganui Festival Day

After a leisurely breakfast you head to Bushy Park Homestead where you can walk through the forest and visitor centre and finish with high tea in the Edwardian Homestead or balcony. Bushy Park Homestead is a truly unique Edwardian Homestead, set within beautifully cared-for grounds that include manicured gardens, 245 hectares of natural rainforest with meandering bushwalks, and a predator-free native bird sanctuary. Recently featured on the popular television series "Country Calendar", the forest is home to the largest Rata tree in the North Island "Ratanui" (Big Rata) which is estimated to be between 500 and 1000 years old. Originally built in 1906, the homestead is a Category One heritage building registered with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. Superbly maintained, the homestead has retained all the charm of yesteryear and offers its guests a chance to step back in time and experience the olde-worlde ambience of the historic homestead. After your high tea we return to town where you can choose to return to the hotel or enjoy any of the many activities on in town. Return to your hotel to relax for the evening along with your farewell dinner.
